Produced by J M Basheer under the banner of Trends Cinemas, the film will be directed by R Aravindaraj and Ayesha will be making her debut in the film industry as Velunachiyar in the lead role. J M Basheer,
who is the producer of the film and who played the role of Pagampon Muthuramalinga Thevar in the film 'Desiya Thalaivar', will play the main character Periya Marudha. It is noteworthy that Ayesha is his daughter.
The motion picture teaser of the film 'Veermangai Velunachiyar' was released on Velunachiyar's birthday, January 3. The shooting of this biographical film will take place in London next month. The shooting and post-production work is ongoing and the team is planning to release the film on Velunachiyar's birthday next year.
Speaking about the release of the motion picture teaser, producer and actor J M Basheer said, "We are very proud to bring Velunachiyar's life story to the screen. It is a great joy to have my daughter Ayesha playing the lead role in it. It is doubly happy to release this teaser on Velunachiyar's birthday," he said.
Basheer further said that it is important for today's youth to know about the great personalities who fought selflessly for our country and national liberation and for this reason he is producing films including 'Desiya Thalaivar' and 'Veermangai Velunachiyar'.
He said that the script of the film has been prepared by studying historical documents. J Sridhar will handle the cinematography for the film 'Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar', while Miracle Michael will design the fight scenes.
